Spitfire

This is the pictorial story of the construction of my Caterham 7. I took delivery of the pieces on 3 May 2000 and completed the build one month later. It's a Roadsport powered by an 1800 Rover K-series engine with wide-track front suspension, adjustable spring platforms, four-point race harnesses, 14 inch Minotaur wheels, removable Momo steering wheel, FIA roll bar, five speed gearbox and is painted Mercedes Brilliant Silver. Since building it I've managed to largely resist the upgraditis that aflicts most owners although it now has keyless ignition via a 'big red button'.

I have to say that Caterham Cars are a pleasure to do business with.  The support I received throughout the build, even as far as getting it registered, was superb.  Whenever I had a problem they were always very helpful and, if it couldn't be solved there and then, would always phone back very quickly.  On the other hand, the build manual was very suspect in some areas and in others just plain wrong. I believe this has now been largely fixed with a much improved version.

You'll may find the Lotus Seven Club and Caterham Cars pages interesting.
